We get asked A LOT how we manage being married AND working together—especially when that means we’re together pretty much 24/7 (minus 🚽😂). Well… this is one of the BIG ways we make it work… Today we both had clients in Suffolk—separate showings, separate areas, one at 10am and the other at 6pm. Instead of driving all the way home in between, we decided to make a day of it. We found a fun market in Smithfield, walked around, grabbed some lunch, then headed over to Chippokes Plantation State Park to walk the shoreline and hunt for shark teeth. 🦈 We had work to do at both ends of the day… but in between, we found ways to have a fun day together. ♥️

Before you fall in love with the kitchen, walk the outside of the house slowly. A few minutes here can reveal expensive problems. Look for: • Foundation cracks: Small hairline cracks may be harmless, but wide, stair-step, or horizontal cracks can point to movement or water pressure. Repairs can get costly fast. • Roof condition: Check for missing, curled, or damaged shingles, sagging areas, and moss. A roof near the end of its life could mean a major expense soon after closing. • Water drainage: After rain, water should move away from the house—not pool beside the foundation. Check for soggy soil, basement window puddles, or downspouts dumping water at the walls. • Gutters and siding: Loose gutters, rust, peeling paint, warped siding, or soft-looking spots can allow water behind the exterior and lead to rot or mold. • Grading and landscaping: Soil should slope away from the home. Large trees close to the house may threaten the roof, foundation, sewer line, or underground utilities. Take photos of anything questionable and ask the inspector to investigate—not just mention it in passing. An exterior red flag doesn’t always mean “walk away,” but it should help you understand the repair, safety, and maintenance costs before you make an offer.
